General Services Employment FAQs

Q. How can I find out more about a position you have listed?

A. You can contact the division that your position is listed in and ask to speak with the Manager who is recruiting for that position.

Q. How long before I hear word from Personnel or from the department that they have accepted my application?

A. Once the recruitment has closed, you can expect a response within 2-3 weeks. Personnel will review the applications and they will then send you a letter accepting your application, or if they need more information, they will notify you and give you five days to send in more information. In the event that you do not qualify for the position that you applied for, Personnel will notify you of this.

Q. What type of benefits does this position have, and when do the benefits become effective?

A. Benefits become effective beginning the third pay period, after you start employment, which is equal to four weeks. You may view our different benefit plans on the Personnel web page under "Benefits" web site at:

http://www.sbcountyhr.org/benefits/index.html

Q. Where can I go to find out more about vacancies within the County?

A. You can contact the Personnel Department at (805) 568-2803, or you may view their web site at:
